HiberniaEvros help Welocalize move to the cloud
Welocalize is a US headquartered content translation solutions provider with
over 400 employees based in 9 global offices. Central to their business is the GlobalSight Translation Management System. Initially perceived as an in-house tool, growing demand from clients around the world, led it to being delivered as a multi-tenancy web-based SaaS (Software as a Service) service, provided to its international customers from its Dublin offices.
Problems caused in move to SaaS
This development inevitably shifted the IT operational focus from internal support to providing a customer-focused solution offered on a High Availability platform. Welocalize found that supporting this model from within their own Dublin offices was not feasible because of unacceptable rates of hardware and connectivty failure along with slow backup times and pressure on internal IT staff.
Co-locating hardware in a Dublin-based data centre also did not provide the solution they required. Although removing many of the limitations of internal hosting, this caused additional complexities, added to the workload of internal IT staff and caused siginficant delays in the introduction of new services.
It was therefore decided to investigate IaaS services as an alternative and HiberniaEvros was selected as their partner in this activity.
Project Approach
Following a review of Welocalize’s requirements and the service they wished to offer to their customers, our professional services team designed and implemented a network of three dedicated virtual LANs (VLANs) using the VMware ESX platform and HP EVA storage. This solution provides the availability and perfomance required, as well as scalability to meet demand as usage of GlobalSight increases.
This new infrastructure is hosted in the HiberniaEvros IaaS Cloud which offers 24x7 system monitoring of all firewalls, switches, servers and storage. It provides Welocalize and its customers with increased availability, improved performance and significantly faster provisioning of new services.
The new infrastructure will also support the future development and introduction of new services for Welocalize customers.
